Mayuge District is 10 years old one of the Newest districts in Uganda, created in 2000 out of Iganga district, Mayuge district administration have comprehensive plans to better education, proper health services and respectable infrastructure and community development.
Mayuge district has a high prevalence of disease, poverty and hunger compared to the rest of the districts in Uganda
Mayuge district administration is also tackling issues of gender inequality in agriculture, unequal access to resources, employment opportunities and elimination of gender-based violence. The district also collaborates with organizations that help improve health and alleviate poverty and hunger.
Twegaite therefore set out to strengthen Mayuge district initiatives by proposing a Twegaite Mayuge Health Center Project that will strengthen Health Centers with the most need. Dr. Mutyabule, the Vice Chairman of Twegaite Boston and others have teamed up with the health administration in Mayuge, and isolated the Health Centers with the most need. The initial projects will be geared towards helping the wellbeing of patients by providing an excellent environment conducive for treatment and recovery.
